The Kindergarten students created penguins that were marching along the walls of the main hallway during their Penguin Unit in January. They were adorable.
They were also adorable in February.
A little cute in March.
But ridiculous in April. That's when I decided that the penguins needed a renewed purpose in life and what better purpose than encouraging reading?
I brandished my Sharpie and with the help of the Grade 3 teachers we gave the penguins voices. (I should add that this prank did involve gut splitting laughter and rolling on the ground being unable to breathe.)
Sadly, after catching up on sleep, the whole endeavour was not quite as hilarious as when we were sleep deprived.
But the students thought it was the best thing ever!
Surprisingly, the Kindergarten teacher allowed our graffiti to remain for two weeks before the penguins marched away into the sunset.
