Bellydancing

I'm not just a teacher librarian... Yes, there is so much more to me than just my role at work.

A big part of my life is the Arts.

I've experienced many forms of dance over the years:
I've worn ballet tutus, struck jazz poses, and dramatically flung myself across the stage in modern ensembles.
As an adult, I am fortunate enough to be a part of an amazing troupe of Belly Dancing ladies, who shake, shimmy, and roll every Monday night.

I have dabbled in music lessons -clarinet, piano, tuba, and steel drums-, but the world is a much better place with me appreciating music rather than producing it.My acting experience is limited to childhood school plays and musicals, but I do enjoy creating script adaptations and designing stage props for teachers at school.

But where I really thrive is the Visual Arts!

I've always enjoyed creating and building.

When I was 9, I visited the Statue of Liberty with my best friend and her family. Upon returning home, I made a 3 foot tall replica of the Green Lady, torch and all, out of rolls and ROLLS of masking tape. I used every roll of my father's stash in the garage - without permission, of course.

And so, even to this today (note: I'm married and I've been out of the house for 11 years), my father still hides his masking tape in places only he knows where.

In November 2020, I became a CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher).

I truly appreciate the calming affect it has on me especially after a long hectic day at work.

I enjoy sharing this art form with my school community in the library.

I'm married to my wonderful husband, who will be referred to by his summer camp name, "Silly", and we have one grown daughter, who I will be calling "Sharkbait" in future blog posts (also a summer camp name).

Sharkbait recently graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario 2019 with her BA in Political Sciences. We are happy to announce that she is engaged to be married in the fall of 2022.

With her being so far away, Silly and I are basically empty nesters... at the age of 42 and 43.
